Importance of Adequate Sleep

I got some tips from cycling coach, Nasir.

Last weekend I went to the usual mamak corner restaurant with my children for breakfast and met Nasir, a former colleague of my current employer. We caught up and shared stories over the short period of time, the kids were pulling and coming over signalling they are getting bored. 🥱

Nasir is a logistic specialist who in his spare time coaches the state cycling team grassroots program meaning he gets to spend time with young teenagers to get them up to speed to be the next state or national champions. I scored the following tips for keeping fit and healthy for young teens (also applicable to adults too) so I figured I share here:

1. Adequate sleep is important, best by bed 🛏️ by 10pm to wake up at 6am the next morning. Without this, they’ll feel fatigued during training.

2. Set a limit for screen time 📲, it ruins focus for children if used excessively and it also prevents them to sleep in early.

3. Limit oily foods and iced drinks, young teens need to eat healthy, more vegetables and fruits help the digestive system to build form better.

These tips may sound tipical but I’m trying to apply then on my children and myself – because to be honest tip number 2 is the hardest of them all.

Let’s live healthy and sleep early.

Cheers 🥂 MFR
