Road to Recovery

My hardhat and a new employee number.

Its been about a month and half since I posted anything on my personal website and LinkedIn. I was busy with my new setting, away from my comfort zone.

I recently changed to another position at a new company located south of Negeri Sembilan.

During my one month notice I fell sick due to my back pain and was hospitalised for a few days. It was a nervous wrecking experience because on one hand I’ve just tendered resignation and on the other I might not be fit for the new role if I were not to recover.

The options I had back in May was radio frequency surgery to burn my slipped disc (herniated) to shrink and gain a relieve between the L5 and S1 links. The epidural steroid injection was another option presented to me as a way to quickly relief the back pain and sciatica I’m suffering from.

Since I opt not to go for surgery, I maximized all available slots for physiotherapy at the hospital and even slotted in between sessions at a private specialist clinic. Luckily I recovered just enough to report for duty in middle of June 2024 and continued the remaining Saturday physiotherapy sessions once I’m back home.

I have since paused my hiking activities because for one, there’s a risk for my back if I over exert while the muscles not strong enough and two, there’s no hills here to climb only plateau suitable for casual cycling.

I hope to come back to my regular writing articles activities but for now I’m focusing on recovery.
