Aside from cutting sugar intake from the instant coffee machine, recently after my ankle is better from injury I started brisk walking again, daily.
In restarting this activity I identified the disablers and work on them to become enablers:
🔻I dislike working out when other people are around, so I hiked very early every morning alone.
🔻 I have several small children and they take a big chunk of my time so I work out when they’re still fast asleep.
🔻 I’m not used to waking up so early but I continued to set my alarm same timing as Ramadhan (wake up early to eat before fasting).
The lesser disablers remain the better we get to solidify the activity into a habit or personal ritual.
We know everyday is unique but do our best to control uncontrollable variables of our lives such as:
💡coming to work to clock in around the same time despite traffic and weather conditions.
💡running the same trail hoping to beat your best record by even a second quicker
💡 cooking a festive dish once a year and hoping it could be as good as grandma’s
I remembered this line from one of my boss that I dislike but I grown the most working with;
“So Firdaus, what’s stopping you from doing this or that?”
“What’s stopping you from completing this or that?”
The answer lies within all of us, identify those disablers or stoppers and turn them into enablers.
There’s no better time to start than now.
