I am still waiting for my physical certificate and card to be mailed from The Welding Institute (TWI) UK after a successful renewal for the visual weld inspection CSWIP3.0
What’s next is to ensure more inspectors get certified, this means training on how to read and verify WPS against welder practice and reports, understand weld symbols on 2D drawings, identify welding defects – how they happen and prevent then and the list goes on.
The latest version registration form is obtained over email from TWISEA staff and candidates will need some welding inspection experience for 3.1 and none for 3.0 – there’s a portion in the form that requires the employer to fill up (if not self-sponsored).
Candidates will also need to go for an eyesight test by a qualified physician and there’s another form to be filled by the doctor on visual acuity Jaeger-J1 and color blindness Ishigara plates test results.
Lastly, candidates will need to prepare passport sized photos for the card. When all priors are done, one should confirm the selected dates for training and examination. These scheduled dates are at TWI website and is first come first served basis – so it definitely helps if you apply early otherwise you’ll need to wait for the next slot.
Anything you want to ask regarding the process, just send me a direct message (DM).
Cheers 🥂 MFR
