Hundred Sixty Eight Hours (Part 2)

Part 2

100 days ago I’ve written a short summary on my favorite book on time management, “168 Hours: You Have More Time Than You Think” by Laura Vanderkam.

Looking back, here are several key learnings at more conceptual level:

1. Vanderkam advocates for tracking how you spend your time to gain a realistic understanding of where your hours go. This helps in making more intentional choices.

2. Identifying and focusing on your core priorities is crucial. Vanderkam suggests allocating time to what truly matters to you, whether it’s work, family, hobbies, or personal growth.

3. Recognizing and minimizing activities that don’t contribute significantly to your goals can free up time for more meaningful pursuits.

4. Instead of the traditional work-life balance concept, Vanderkam proposes the idea of work-life integration, where aspects of work and life complement each other to create a more harmonious and fulfilling existence.

5. Embracing flexibility in your schedule while also planning and structuring your time can lead to increased productivity and satisfaction.

6. Shifting your mindset from “I don’t have time” to “It’s not a priority” helps in taking ownership of your choices and being more intentional about how you allocate your time.

These learnings encourage readers to rethink their approach to time management, emphasizing the importance of conscious decision-making and focusing on what truly matters.
