I decided to go back to longform since its how started my interest in writing many years ago. It was called blogging or web log back then. Its a format I’m used to reading articles in depth for work as well as recreation.
Writing helps me regroup my thoughts, negates negative feelings or feedback received during the day. I find it sort of relieving, not sure what is the correct terminology for it yet. And for now it’s something I look forward to coming home.
I have a friend Amir, who writes using voice input. I tried this method but I really messed the flow because I every now and then, I stopped speaking to the mic and my fingers back to the keyboard correcting every point the computer heard me wrongly. I still believe voice input is the future but for now I’m all fingers.
To be completely honest, most of my postings are not planned, spur of the moment kind of spontaneous blurts with some light readings on examples I want to share correctly – sort of a double checking mechanism honed over a period of time.
I also found that when I deliberately plan, my writings doesn’t feel natural. I like how it’s more structured but I also dislike the feeling stiff, interrupted flow after re-reading then. I’m trying to balance a bit of both (spontaneous + structured) with the hopes I could really find my style soon.
For now, I have setup a dedicated wordpress site with a customised domain plus a new email address to get up to speed. I’m now reachable at admin@firdausrahiman.com as well as my LinkedIn page.
Thank you for your kind thoughts and warm wishes always.
