I had my first Yee Sang and Chinese New Year celebration dinner last night and it was a new experience for me. I came out of my comfort zone, out of my usual circle and excuses for attending after-work events. It reminded me my tenure in Johor, where we used to go out for dinner with colleages to celebrate project completions or work milestones. It was night and day compared to where I’m at now, the boundaries I’ve established, routines that defined my outlook and reputation at work.
Being grateful for someone saving a seat for you extends beyond the physical realm; it symbolizes the comfort of being welcomed, the assurance of belonging, and the recognition of your presence amidst the hustle and bustle of life. It’s about acknowledging the thoughtfulness of others, their willingness to make space for you in their world, even when it may seem inconvenient or unnecessary.
My outlook for 2024 is to try new things and break things fast and work out new routines and carve out a new me – hopefully if any of that makes sense and the world gives me that chance.
Cheers 🥂 MFR
