The past few days and weeks I’m procrastinating badly on the things I wanted to do because I’m bogged down by adhoc stuff / reacting / emergent / recovery things.

Here’s what can we do about it:

First, break down tasks into smaller, manageable chunks. This makes them less daunting and easier to tackle. Set specific, achievable goals for each session, which can boost motivation and provide a sense of progress.

Next, establish a structured routine. Set aside dedicated time slots for work, minimizing distractions during these periods. Consider using techniques like the Pomodoro method, where you work for a set time, then take a short break. This helps maintain focus and prevents burnout.

Additionally, address underlying causes of procrastination, such as fear of failure or perfectionism. Practice self-compassion and accept that not everything needs to be flawless. Cultivate a growth mindset, focusing on learning and improvement rather than solely on outcomes.

Finally, hold yourself accountable. Share your goals with a friend or colleague, or use apps that track your progress. Celebrate achievements and learn from setbacks, adjusting your approach as needed. Remember, overcoming procrastination is a gradual process, so be patient and persistent with yourself.

Hope this helps, I’m catching up to a hike I missed earlier this morning.
