Losing streaks, highs and lows : Bounce back

Reading my own advice to myself from my past lows is like taking meds. I’m lucky to have the opportunity to have the means to do so, not many people I know keep journals that they can refer later. It’s definitely helpful to be able to go back to that previous point, learn why you were stuck and how you bounced back and emulate in your current situation.

I’m reaching an age that I can feel myself going into the next upcycle and the lows. I think it has got to do with the receptors and chemical reactions signalling the mind and body when too much stress is too much. Or its just another episode of lazy long weekends that I need to overcome, its December – remember? Its a known period where everyone wants to work less and have more fun. Its natural, right?

Habits help to get back on track for example I get up at five something with or without the alarm clock setting off due to the muscle memory of my daily morning hikes. I sometimes get this uneasy feeling when I need to travel or change my schedule because I risk my long streaks. This is inevitable but I’ll try to gain back the steps by strolling the mall or walking the kids.

The writing and publishing on my website also helps to establish a sense of achievement similar to making up your bed everyday. The reaction to LinkedIn posts however has the opposite effect because it oscillates between topics and posts with people have higher engagement than without. Upon completing this short essay I already feeling better, I need to get back on track, my daily hiking and writing.

Back to the daily grind.

Cheers 🥂 MFR
